The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of The Telly Awards. Forty years of honoring video and television. Forty years of charting the evolution of this dynamic industry. We’ve come a long way since our inaugural season in 1979! From betamax tapes to urls, 30 second commercials to 30min VR pieces, from one TV box to multiple screens.

This past season, we wanted to ensure that this evolution was not only recognized, but put front and center across all our initiatives. Over a monumental year for The Telly Awards, we fully embraced work created for all screens and revitalized our own look  and feel to reflect this. This was reflected in the incredible work we saw throughout our 39th season. From branded content to social video, VR to commercials, this truly was a season that celebrated stories made for every screen. New forms of video and television were created to find audiences where they already are – on social networks, on digital platforms and very much connected 24/7.

More than ever, The Telly Awards became an industry voice and champion for your work, a connector of creatives from all disciplines, a platform to celebrate creators. From editorial interviews with the BBC, National Geographic, and PwC, to panels and discussions featuring innovative voices from RYOT, Vimeo, and Great Big Story.

As we celebrate 40 years of celebrating you, we will continue to grow this; solidifying our efforts in celebrating your work year-round.

We are excited to announce our theme for the year which encapsulates our industry, an industry that ensures there is A Story for Every Screen.This will reflect across all we do including  our inaugural screening series; showcasing work from Telly Awards winners and judges in cities across the US and providing an exclusive opportunity to hear from the creators behind it. Keep an eye out in our newsletters and website for more announcements on this as well as information on our new categories for this season, including expanded craft categories for VR and Branded Content and the introduction of a suite of Live Video categories.

Last but not least, I am thrilled to announce that we will be bestowing the title of Telly Award Company of The Year to the organization with the biggest body of Telly-winning work at the end of our 40th season.
